Quick and Easy
This was a fun, quick project to work on – it ultimately served two purposes:
First, we had just received news in the mail that VirtuSense had passed the Great Places to Work survey and was officially a 2021 Great Place to Work. This news came with a box of little props and Knick-knacks, with encouragement to post the joyous news on social media.
Second, we had recently received our camera upgrade for our video studio: The Sony FX3, which can shoot 4k at 10bit color depth and 120 frames per second. We needed to test this camera out on some low pressure projects to get used to the workflow and understand what the camera was capable of.
These things coincided in the same week, and so in a matter of hours, this video came together: The idea was simple: Use the 120fps to replicate a sort of “bullet time” effect, and just film a short stoppped time scnee showing off the Great Place to Work props, our products, our team, our office, and some general shenanigans.
From there, it was just a matter of gathering volunteers, finding whatever wacky props we could, setting up the scene, and firing off a few takes. Each take was about 10 seconds in shooting time, which would stretch out to a couple of minutes and be ready for speed ramping and other editing fun.
Not a complicated project, but really fun and surprisingly solid for a couple hours of work. A great piece for the website and various other recruiting purposes.
